The National Restaurant Association set out to explore the landscape of current technology adoption in restaurants, plans for future adoption, and restaurant operators' thoughts and opinions on this fast-moving trend. Some customer-facing technologies have high adoption rates, but in other areas technology adoption is slower. When it comes to operational and back-of-the-house technology, a majority of restaurants use a POS or electronic cash register system, but a significant proportion still do not. The report breaks down results by limited-service and tableservice restaurants, as well as by independent and chain/franchisee ownership. Published in August 2016.
